I want to create raised letters. There are a few spaces where it looks too tight for my bits to be able to flatten down to the common depth I want. Is there a bit people typically use to flatten a tight space?
I guess it depends on how small you’re going, but I recently had good results with some pretty small raised lettering using;
CNC Solid Carbide Spektra™ Extreme Tool Life Coated Spiral Plunge 1/4" Dia x 3/4" Cut Height x 1/4" Shank Down-Cut Router Bit
For the clearing pass, and
46280-K CNC 2D and 3D Carving 6.2 Deg Tapered Angle Ball Tip x 1/32 Dia x 1/64 Radius x 1 x 1/4 Shank x 3 Inch Long x 3 Flute Solid Carbide Up-Cut Spiral Spektra™ Extreme Tool Life Coated Router Bit
For the finish pass. It wasn’t super deep of a pocket by any stretch (0.1") but even the handwriting font turned out very well.
an image may help people contribute. is a 1/8" or 1/16" EM too large?
