Error at anything but slow speed

I have my machine. a gen2 redline, together now and as I was jogging it while installing various things like spoilboards, and probes, and tool setters, I notice that at anything but the slowest speed if I go all the way back or forward the motors error out when the reach the limit of travel. Is this normal?

When you say all the way - back/forward - are you jogging up to the soft limits and letting these be what stops the travel?

I am going till it stops both y and why. but at any speed other than the slowest when it gets to the stopping point i errors out and I have to reset the motors. I reset, dismiss, and tell it not to rehome and everything is fine. but I have not yet run any programs yet on the new machine. so i do not yet know if i will need to rehome to get it to run the program yet. I am still waiting on the vac control in/out thing from the PI shop. it should be here any day now.

re-home I would say YES,best to always start out from a good “home” position.

Have you upgraded to 1.4.18? I had similar issues prior to the upgrade, and their release notes identified a couple of things about moving the spindle, esp. when using the joypad. I have not experienced any movement problems since the upgrade.
