I recently upgraded to the Onefinity Gen 2 with the Redline/RealTime CNC controller, and I’m trying to connect my existing H100 VFD and spindle.
I wired the controller’s VFD port to the H100’s RS-485 terminals as follows:
-
D+ on the Onefinity/Redline VFD port → 485+ on the H100
-
D− on the Onefinity/Redline VFD port → 485− on the H100
On the H100, I changed:
-
F001 = 2 for communication control
-
F002 = 2 for communication-based speed control
When I go into the Redline controller spindle settings and choose “Redline VFD (RS-485)”, I get a communication error. If I choose “PWM (Laser/Spindle)”, there is no communication error, but the spindle does not turn on.
The spindle and VFD themselves work fine manually from the VFD keypad/knob, so I’m trying to figure out whether:
-
The Redline controller’s RS-485 VFD mode can be used with a third-party H100 VFD, or whether it only works with Redline’s own VFD.
-
There are additional H100 communication settings I need to change, such as address, baud rate, or data format.
-
If RS-485 will not work, whether I should instead use the PWM/Laser-Spindle port, and if so:
-
Which pins from that port connect to which terminals on the H100?
-
What H100 parameters need to be changed for run/stop and speed control?
-
I found older forum discussions about configuring an H100 VFD with the previous Onefinity controller using custom Modbus settings, but I’m not sure how that applies to the new Redline/RealTime CNC system.
Any help from someone who has successfully connected an H100 VFD to the Gen 2 Redline controller would be greatly appreciated.
