Hey Tom, hey all,

> [@TMToronto](#):

> To ground the machine, I have seen in numerous CNC forums the practice of bolting a heavier gauge copper cable to the main metal chassis of the CNC (the 1F machines have many locations with bolts/screws), and taking this to a common earth ground point.

The question whether grounding the chassis comes up from time to time, we had this in [Voltage Present](https://forum.onefinitycnc.com/t/voltage-present/8599/5) the other day.

Did you see what just was the cause of the issue in:

Seems [I was right then](https://forum.onefinitycnc.com/t/voltage-present/8599/8) 🙂

I think this is to note also:

> I wired my spindle with a proper shielded 4-conductor cable. The ground wire is attached to the casing of the spindle. The other end shares a common ground with the VFD and Onefinity controller. I found a surprise benefit is that if I forget to attach the probe magnet to the collet, the probe still registers through ground when touched and works normally- saving the tools from any damage. (It’s scary how many times I’ve forgotten to attach the magnet already!).
