My elite is not grounded

AFAICT there is no connection between ground from the wall and ground on the motors. This is a problem, right? In order to get my cuts working I’ve wrapped some copper wire around the back right motor and attached that to ground, but if that fails, I probably should have a grounded machine, right? Is it possible that ground is ‘relayed off’ when the motors are not running, and thats why my multimeter says there is not connection between ground from the wall and ground on the motor?

I have a PRO series machine. I tested for ground and found that the entire frame of the machine is grounded. The X and Y tubes, the aluminum brackets and the motor frames too. Everything metal has continuity with a known-good ground.

Are the other metal parts of your machine showing as grounded? If not, I would suspect the receptacle you’re plugged into.
