A Homing grinding

Well after 7 months waiting to get back into my house I finally got my X-50 woodworker setup. When I try to home the machine it goes to the front left hand corner and makes a grinding noise and a warning comes up and says my x axis is off by -1mm. It shows zero on the screen after about 2 seconds of grinding. What am I doing wrong and how do I fix it? Thanks
