I will move next year and I was debating to move with my (homemade) table or get the QCW but I did not need (or like) the wheels and the basic frame still required legs.
This is a nice alternative, I will look into it!

Do we get the options to secure from beneath or above?

So wish this was available when I bought my machine. Now I have a Kreg bench with the QCW sitting on it. Maybe I’ll switch to this kit and turn the other bench into a work table 🤔
Very nice accessory for those buying machines now.

Where do the controller and monitor fit into this setup? At first glance, you still need to either have a side table to accommodate those things. I guess you could mount the controller to the bottom of the wasteboard but you lose easy access to the stop function and still doesn’t solve the location of the monitor.

Is there any significant advantage between the “secure from above” vs “secure from below” QCW top?

Hey Larry,

the advantage of “Secure from beneath” is, with self-drilling chipboard screws, you do not need to pre-drill anything into the wasteboard slats. But…

> [@QCW secure from above or from below](https://forum.onefinitycnc.com/t/qcw-secure-from-above-or-from-below/19818/2):
>
> …I think you should only buy the [secure from beneath](https://www.onefinitycnc.com/product-page/qcw-frame-quick-change-waste-board-frame) version if your enclosure allows to do this:

> [![Screenshot_2023-04-03_05-24-53__QCW_frame_from_below](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex022/uploads/onefinitycnc/original/3X/b/e/be3dfbf0bc0e3d13140f9facf06fc056385459ad.png)](https://youtu.be/ZdnZXLD8yyw?t=187)

I find “Secure from above” better **because you can leave your CNC in place** when you attach the wasteboard slats. And regarding the holes you need to drill for the countersunk bolts, you can create a toolpath for a new wasteboard slat set and simply mill it everytime you need new ones and you can even cut the slats out all with your CNC machine.

When drilling the holes for the countersunk bolts for “[Secure from above](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXU5ZaRteZo)” by hand I suggest this:

Onefinity released a heavy duty version of the fixed stand last fall. Has anyone tried that version? I’m about to buy the QCW and I’ve already got a big table, but I’m potentially moving my workshop to a place where I’d like my journeyman to take up as little space as possible and the heavy duty fixed stand seems to fix the previous wobbling issues.

I recently purchased an Elite Gen 2 Foreman model along with the QCW Foreman stand. I’ve had the machine for a little over a month now, and it has been a solid purchase.

Regarding the stand, it is built like a tank and made setting up the machine incredibly simple. After assembling the stand, I stood on top of the wasteboard to see how solid it was. There wasn’t any movement at all-it was remarkable sturdy.

I have been in engineering for over 30 years, and it has been a long time since I’ve seen a product built with this level of strength and quality. The design and construction are truly impressive.

I would highly recommend the stand.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Henke,

I did a set of posts recently on how I set up my workshop using the QCW without a heavy table and made it hinge up against the wall when not in use. I am very happy with the rigidity of the frame and stability!

I have done a dozen projects already and I am very pleased with this setup!

> [@Setting up my Gen 2 Journeyman Workshop](https://forum.onefinitycnc.com/t/setting-up-my-gen-2-journeyman-workshop/38629):
>
> Making room for my Elite Gen 2 Journeyman in my workshop required a lot of thought about space, power, lighting, dust collection and computer setup. I hope to document the process to solicit suggestions of lessons learned and perhaps offer so ideas to others. A closely related issue is that the Journeyman is not the only piece of equipment in my shop. I have a table saw, shaper, 18" surface planner, router table and the usual sundry of power and hand tools for woodworking. Perhaps more unique,…

I have an Elite 2 Foreman with the heavy duty stand and would highly recommend getting it. I have not noticed any wobble or movement of my table. I would recommend making sure it’s level and all 4 feet are supporting equal weight.

The stand is very solid, but I do get some shimmy of the entire setup when boring holes. I’m hoping a little weight added to the bottom shelf will help it out. For now I’m running my boring operations at a slower speed.
