Analog Jogging Controls

Pendant Jogging Controls

The new jog controls can be accessed from the MAIN screen. The new analog jog controls function like an on-screen game controller with full proportional speed control for travel in any direction with precise speed control. The new pendant jog controls simulate an on-screen pendant with adjustable step distances.

Did it change to where the Rotary Probe icon only appears when the rotary is connected? It doesn’t show up after the update.

Correct. Rotary only shows up if rotary is connected

I just wanted to check in on this… Since updating, I’ve had various issues that weren’t present before:

  • The macro not holding. For example, I’ll set my G56 macro, run the job, it finishes, then I move the spindle out of the way to inspect before I pull it off. When I go to start the same job, not changing any settings, it starts in an entirely new position and seems to have reset itself 1-2” off. I have to rehome the machine, and load the offset every time a job finishes.

  • Running the same projects, same toolpaths as I had before, but all of a sudden my finishing passes aren’t completing over the material. There’s still material left from my 3D raster roughing pass. This hasn’t happened before, and I double checked everything in Aspire. It looks like the machine just seems to be adjusting the Z axis zero by .15-.2” as it goes. I’d even tried carving down deeper to see if it’ll just run a second finishing pass and take that extra material out, it did not. I’ve checked programming, tramming, and my waste board is perfectly level with the machine.

  • My machine wasn’t detecting my probe, everything was connected just fine. I had to restart the controller to get it to read.

  • The machine won’t completely shut down 75% of the time. Normally the screen goes black and it’s good to go. Now it just has the little text saying it’s shutting down… 20 mins later it is not.

  • Still having issues connecting to the gamepad controller. I just have to unplug it 2-4x and plug it back in to get it to connect.

Any suggestions? Should I reset the whole controller and install the new firmware from the get go?

I had to go back the previous version to get things working right this was my problem…… Running the same projects, same toolpaths as I had before, but all of a sudden my finishing passes aren’t completing over the material. @BarkingBladeDesignCo @cyberlynx1 Im testing the new firmware released last night version 1.1.3.8 found on my loosing steps topic. I’ll give an update on that post in less than an hour with the initial 50min test run.

I updated yesterday to 1.2.2 and have an issue where a couple jobs stopped midway had to reset and start over then it ran to completion.

Had an issue where when the job ended I was unable to click ok to acknowledge program complete had to power off to clear

That has also happened to me multiple times. It’s like the touchscreen goes wonky.

Did you notice if the arrow wasn’t where your finger was? When i first got setup and surfaced my spoil board there was dust that got on the screen and that was happening to me at least. My alternative which might help you was plugging in a mouse to use the screen. Now i just keep an old one by the cnc for now.

That’s probably not new. It happens to me everyday with the production firmware. I just take a picture of the coordinate settings before every job so I can power down and back up and rerun the job.

@Graffix Thanks for the mouse tip. Sometimes the HMI does still have the mouse cursor but not registering it’s location properly. A mouse will help. Unfortunately I’ll have to disconnect the joyoad because both USB ports are used (joypad dongle & wifi antenna).

The dust on the screen as possible interference is something I can look at too. But when it locks all the way up, powering off is the only solution. It’s a good thing I’m not doing production work because it can’t be counted on for serious work. It’s like they used to say about not wanting to get a car built on a Friday - the rest of the week is fine but you’ll have nothing but headaches if it was built on Friday when they’re trying to get off the line for the weekend

I updated to the new beta 1.3.8 and ran 4 - 3d carves of 2.5 hours total without the previous issues of being unable to acknowledge program end and all ran to successful end. Hoping this fix holds. Thanks to OF support

I wonder if they’re available now? lol. I’d like to try the same. Because these lines across my pieces when it’s doing a 45deg raster are getting really time consuming and costly

Beta is here: http://firmware.realtimecnc.com/RTS1.1.3.8.tar.gz
