Looking for feedback from anyone that has used bits from the Spetool brand on Amazon. I bought this bit below (3/16 Compression) for something specific but it seems to perform pretty well. I assume however it may not last as long as other bits from more premium brands?
I buy them frequently for aluminum, mainly the O flutes and 3 flutes, and have been very happy with them. I typically only buy ‘bright’/uncoated.
I use SPE bits a lot 1/4 up & down and 1/8 up & down most of my work is kiln dried oak and they get pushed fairly hard.
Having run my shop for coming up to 5 years I think they offer great value for money They very often come up on a special deal, I haven’t found much difference between the coated or uncoated

Beware the overuse of the word premium. just like in my area all apartments are now “luxury apartments” It is meaningless anymore. Spetools is just fine. or if you are new and inexperienced you might want to go with IDC only because of their “you break it they replace it” offer. Yes, you are paying for it in advance because they are charging you (insurance built into the price) clever disguise but effective marketing. I broke a lot of bits before I learned things lol. and since I am 72, I have lots of experience at mistakes and thus learning.
Maybe I am wrong about the Amazon bits, but I feel like my money can be better spent on something not made in China. For $45 that gets you a similar U.S. or anything but China bit. I’m sure they work fine, it’s more the practice of supporting China I don’t like to do. Back in the day, I used 1/2" straight cut Amana bits and they did me fine and were pretty much indestructible unless you hit something really dumb. Really good at making saw dust too.

I use spe bits often and have them to be the better than the other non-USA BITS ON Amazon. One of the reasons I buy them over the premium brands is fast free delivery and ease of return. I don’t have the budget to have backups so I want replacements fast.
If Spetool bits work for you and that’s all you can afford, that’s great. As you know, owning a CNC is not a cheap endeavor, I’ve always been of the mindset of buying good tools once, and that applies to bits too. Personally, I buy from either Bits n Bits or IDC, both American companies. Amazon may ship Chinese made bits quick, but I’d prefer to wait an extra couple days and support a U.S. company.
