Stand for Elite 48 by 48

Anybody purchase the stand for the Elite? If so, how do you like it? Do you wish you had built your own? I’m fixing to order a machine. I built a bench out of Birch for my Shapeoko 3xxl and I would use that but it is only 48 by 48 and I see that the Elite would need a 65 by 65 top at least. Thoughts?

I purchased the QCW table when I purchased my Elite Foreman. I like the table. But! 1) It does wobble too much for me. I have since taken steps to stiffen it. 2) The T-track is spaced too far apart for me. I am a fan of AirWeights vacuum tables. I have a 24x48 on my other CNC. So I decided to go with the slat system for the QCW table. It was supposed to arrive today, but UPS has placed a delay on it for some unknown reason. So I cannot give you my feeling on it. I think with the T-track and vacuum slats it will work out ok. If you are not a vacuum table user, build your own and space the T-track closer.

Yeah, I dont think I want to put another 3K in the table that is for sure. Thanks for your feedback. I was curious if the table was sturdy or not and you answer was what I was looking for. I think that I have enough birch left from my first table build to enlarge it to accommodate the larger machine. Thanks…

Just built my table left the middle open so I can use it for vertical milling in the future. the opening is where the middle section of the QCW, just will need to remove that board. had to add plywood to back and from back to front to stiffen the table had a little wobble.

I agree with Joe W’s points 100%. Making the MDF slats was also a pain. I just put a sacrificial 3/4’ MDF dovetail spoil-board on top of it. If I had to do it over again, I would have built a stand. That would make an enclosure easier to add as well…I still might do it one of these days.

Im thinking my money for a stand might be better well spent on the rotary axis…

On my first table setup the T-tracks were too far apart as well. When I got my AirWeights vacuum table I redid the spoil board and T-tracks so the tracks line up with the notches around the perimeter of the vacuum table (5.5"). I would prefer 4" spacings but that wouldn’t work with the vacuum table. When not using the vacuum table I sometimes have to play games with some longer hold-downs for pieces that need hold-downs on the ends.
