# Touch screen monitor crashes

On several stl carves my touch screen goes blank and has no display, means I cannot see what is happening, and have no way of knowing if I should be hitting the panic button.  
Is there a cure or something I am doing wrong?

Hey Tony,

are you using the buildbotics-derived Onefinity Controller? In this case you could control it [from a remote computer](https://forum.onefinitycnc.com/t/how-to-directly-connect-your-onefinity-cnc-to-a-computer-laptop-no-screen-present-buildbotics-controller/9248). This way you avoid it if the [HDMI](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI) connection between touch screen and CNC controller is disturbed.

To remedy the cause you would have to avoid [EMI](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_interference).

There are a number of countermeasures you could take, e.g. ferrite cores, ground the machine, use shielded cables, etc., [as described here](https://forum.onefinitycnc.com/t/ui-freezes-frequently/17888/5).
