I’m a husband of 40+ years, father, and grandfather, retired soldier, and software engineer with over 30 years of experience.
We bought some property a few years back and learned rather quickly that having 17 acres of woods was quite the responsibility. There are always windfall trees to process into firewood or better yet to mill into lumber. So we bought a sawmill and a log splitter. I guess that is when we decided to sell the boat and start building up a wood shop.
We just bought our first CNC Router (Onefinity Journeyman) and we’re having a great time with it. Within a day we were cutting cabinets for the wood shop and making catch all trays for Christmas gifts thanks to the awesome community of wood workers and CNC enthusiasts.
I’m looking forward to deep diving into the nuts and bolts of the CNC technology including the programming aspects. It’s a new software engineering problem domain for me and I’m looking for resources to get started. Let me know if you have any advice on any books, coding libraries, etc…
