1f Rotary vs JTech rotary question

Hello! New here and new to laser engraving so I apologize if this is a dumb question but I didn’t see where this has been asked yet (possibly because it is dumb)….

In the context of laser engraving mugs as the first use case, would it be better to just buy the 1F rotary (assuming future woodworking/cnc uses) or go with the JTech rotary? From a material holding perspective, it looks like the JTech is more purpose build for this type of work whereas the 1F seems more woodworking focused.

If the j tech is a complete system as in control, laser, and handling system, then perhaps. the onefinity rotary is not set up for cups I don’t think.

Thanks for the reply…… That would make sense from what I see in the material handling setups between the two

One thing I’ll say about the jtech rotary as I’ve got one, it’s a roller rotary which you’ll find has some drawbacks. The 1F rotary looks to be a chuck system, which I would suspect has some advantages in being able to do things with handles or irregularly shaped.

I’ve actually talked to jtech about it, and I’ve been toying with the idea of making my own chuck style rotary, since all the jtech rotary is made of is a stepper motor like our regular axis motors and a belt/gear system to drive the rollers; with a stepper motor and some 3d printing of parts, I think I could make a chuck style so I have more flexibility, but I do like jtech’s rotary for what it is for sure.
