Yeah, both machines use the same Z axis that uses 16mm rails (which are decently beefy themselves) and is traversed by 12mm ball screw. The Z axis linear bearings are 70mm long.
I’m running a Centroid Acorn controller feeding into a Gecko G540 stepper driver, run by an Intel NUC computer. Very happy with this setup.
