Hello All,
This thread got me thinking and I did some research, as I use SolidWorks for school and robotics. I found a fully integrated 2.5D CAM software for free. It is called HSMExpress, and from what have read, the CAM engine in Fusion360 is based on HSM. There is a paid version that will allow you to do 3D.
Here is a quick video of what I came up with within the first hour of learning the software. It is nice because it’s integrated directly into your part file so no need to export DXF and all that. Onefinity has added an official post processor on the Autodesk/HSM database you can download. Here is the video: SolidWorks and HSMExpress for the Onefinity - First Look - YouTube
From what I have done so far, it’s much more intuitive than SolidWorks CAM, idk about MasterCAM (also available as a plugin). I have access to that from robotics, but I have never used it before.
So far, HSMExpress is looking pretty solid!
