A VFD works with high internal carrier frequencies which can induce noise into the power system, but the EMI filter also protects the VFD from noise from the power system. The type you need should be mentioned in your VFD manual, e.g.
- As per the Omron MX2 manual, SECTION 5: Inverter System Accessories, for the 200 V class single-phase input 2.2 kW model, the EMI filter is Part No. AX-FIM1024-RE for the Rasmi brand and Part No. AX-FIM1024-SE-V1 for the Schaffner brand.
- As per the Hitachi WJ200 User’s Manual, for the EMI filter, for the 200 V class single-phase input 2.2 kW model, it is on page D-2, Part No. FS24828-27-07 for the Schaffner brand, and
A line filter should be rated with at least the input current rating and input voltage of the VFD plus a reserve, so at least 240 V 30 A in my case […] A line filter has safety capacitors both continously in line and in series with full voltage and current! That is why they must be rated accordingly.
