2d Pocket struggle

I am struggling to figure something out. I am cutting out some cabinet sides that have a groove for the base shelf (horizontal) and a groove for the back panel (vertical). When I select a 2d pocket and select the face everything look good but for some reason it’s only really applying the cut to the horizontal cut and not the vertical?

Any insight on where I am going wrong here is appreciated!

Did you get any message when generating the toolpath(s)?
It looks like the toolpath shown has several passes to clear the wider pocket - is the tool diameter able to fit in the narrower vertical pocket? Did you select the geometry of the vertical pockets as well as horizontal?

Perhaps you could share the Fusion CAD/CAM file for this project.

I think you solved the mystery…I had a 1/4" end mill tool selected. That vertical groove is “.25” which I assume it would just be able to make one pass and be done but apparently it doesn’t like an “exact fit”?

I changed the tool to 1/8 end mill and it’s working now!

Fusion doesnt like to fit a 0.25" wide cutter in a slot 0.25" wide. This is because as the cutter moves along the slot, its climb milling one side of the slot, and conventional milling the other side, thereby breaking your rule to climb or conventionally mill the part.

I get around this by designing slots 0.251" wide, or by doing and open contour instead of pocket.

…you might be able to set “stock to leave” as -0.001" and it will get the job done, and overcut the slot by 0.002".
