Cutting aluminum

ok, some generic info for feeds, speeds, depth of cut , and step over for aluminum.
please help me understand. and yes right now I have the Makita trim router. I know not perfect for machining aluminum but it is what I have for now.

I can’t answer your question, but you might enjoy watching this video from a Shapeoko Pro user experimenting with aluminum.

Hey Scott,

I actually bought the 1f for aluminum. I’m currently testing things still, but I’m getting closer and closer after bits break left and right. I’m making a tread for documentation if you’d like to check it out.

How far have you gone? Can I see your projects?

Thanks Nathan, I build exotic wood art boxes. I incorporate aluminum and aluminum medallions where I can. I want to learn how to cut out aluminum in shapes for box hardware.
I have had my onefinity machine for about 2 months and have not gotten up the nerve to try machining aluminum yet.
Check out some of my work on my website

Check out the category made in NC. It’s my new line of art boxes with resin inlay.

Thanks!
Scott
