Drag knife experiment

Could anyone advise ref an idea I have. Wife wants to change the ac return grill. It’s about 24 x 36”. I was thinking that I could get some refrigerator magnet material and use a drag knife to cut my own pattern into it and stick it on the old grill. The material is .03 thick. Anyone with experience with a drag knife might be able to advise?

I might have problem with small cut outs sticking to the knife?
Any input appreciated.

Hi Scott, I make the following drag knife holder for Roland style cutters. Thickest material I’ve used it on so far is 0.02" thick vinyl shown in this video. One of the problems I had initially was the blade being pinched when ending a cut on a curve. I therefore added tabs where needed to assure the blade ends each run on a straight line.
