Extending Limit Switch Wiring on Elite Gen 2

I recently got my Elite series gen 2 Journeyman and, for a variety of space-related reasons, I set it up with the X rails switched so the Y gantry motor is over the drag chain on the right. I got the cable extensions and all my cabling runs out the back of my enclosure, easy peasy.

The issue I’m having is, since I have to check the “Reverse X Motor” box on my Redline HMI settings, the machine now homes in the opposite direction of the X rail limit switches. I’m comfortable with cutting and splicing in wires but I am hoping I could do something in software to have the gantry Home toward the limit switches in the back even though the movement of the x motors is reversed.

There’s no offering for limit switch extension cables so what are my options that could avoid cutting any OEM wires?

UPDATE:

Since I got the cold shoulder from Onefinity support on here, I decided to reach out to customer support directly with my questions. To their credit, they got back to me very quickly. Below are my questions and Onefinity’s responses so that we can all learn more about these machines together as a community:

Q: Is there is a way to change the direction of the homing direction in software?

A: No

Q: Is there an OEM solution to extending the wires for the limit switches so I can move them to the other side of the X rails?

A: There are wire extensions, but no limit extensions.

Q: Is my only option to cut the limit switch wires and splice in extension wires?

A: If you cut the wires and splice them, the warranty will be void (if done incorrectly you could damage the sensors or the controller).

Frustrating since the Gen 1 seems so flexible, but I guess it simplifies technical support to have everyone walk the straight and narrow. My opinion is that the word “incorrectly” is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that last response, if ya know what I mean…

This isn’t the official Support channel. You need to call/email as you found out. Sometimes they deal with issues here but that’s inconsistent. The forum is more for informal & customers sharing their experience and communication vs official OF support.

Ok great. Thank you for the help
