That’s great Robert. Is the IF post processor s’ware included in the Maker s’ware or is the PP a separate purchase? Why I ask is that I don’t see IF listed on your website. Yes I think I will need a lot of help to get started so your offer of assistance really appreciated.
Hi Pat,
The postprocessors will be in our next update to the products, its taking us a little longer to release as Maker Plus is undergoing some amazing new enhancements. That release will also have in a number of new post processors in, and new training material.
But for now you can find the Onefinity Post Processors here: Post Processors
Hi Rob, just wondering if you found anything on v-carve inlays? Thanks.
Hey Garrett,
I hadn’t forgotten, Leighton doesnt have anything to hand, but he is creating a series of new videos for the next update, and will add it to the list after that. He has said it is pretty straight forward. So hopefully not to long.
Great, thanks! Looking forward to it.
Hi there, brand new to CNC. Since Downloading Carveco I have not been able to find how to set where the bet is starting in relation to my machine. I can’t seem to find any writeups and sometimes a quick note is better than a 20 minute video. How do I set zero to be bottom left of the workspace so that the machine won’t try to cut an area outside of its work surface?
Edit: NVM, found it in the initial model setup. Is there any way to edit the origin after you have started a file?
Looking forward to using your software!
Hi you can do this with Model - Set position then you can either choose a corner or select any point in the model as 0,0
Hi Rob,
Waiting for my first machine and sub’d to Maker. Just getting going with it and am wondering if I’m missing something or has the software changed. I don’t see a Layout sub menu under Windows.
Thanks
Hi Rob
I have bought into the OneFinity platform (March 2021) and in the mean time have been exploring my Carvco Maker Plus subscription. Your tutorial videos are very informative and the presentations are super chill.
I appreciate your participation in this forum, it says a lot about you and your company. Looking forward to working with you in the future.
Hi RonHoppus
Thanks for joining us, different products do have different options, including in Maker. You can manually customise the view in maker by going to Windows-Toolbars and Dockings, and then you can customise it to suit you. In the full blown carveco you have preset layouts aswell, but not in Maker or Maker Plus.
Hey Dan,
Thanks, the guy that does the videos, Leighton, is amazing, what he doesn’t know about CNC, Software and tooling isn’t worth knowing. Ill let him know you like them.
And thanks for the kudos, this is more than just a job for all of us in Carveco, even in our weekends and holidays we are tinkering with software and cnc’s.
Thanks Rob
Which of your products support “tiling”?
Thanks,
Gary
Curious, how would you compare your product to FreeCad? I have used a lot of the core libs in FreeCad in a previous professional life and they seem quite robust.
How are you better?
Thanks
Hey Gary,
Carveco Maker Plus supports Tiling, it also has nesting, aswell as 3d relief modelling tools, over carveco maker it also has some improved toolpathing options.
Thank Rob, I was wondering if that was what toolpath paneling meant. Have a great day, Gary
I’d say we are different, so FreeCAD is a parametric modellor, and is more comparable with Fusion, Rhino, Solidworks etc. So its hard to compare like for like. As for robustness, i really appreciate it when you get a piece of software that you can say is robust. I feel its something more software should invest time in, the average in the industry for cad and cam software is a 8% crash rate, when I last pulled our figures ours crash rate was 0.7%.
We are a bas relief modeler at our core, and the only thing similar to us is Vectric products, and that because we come from the same family. They are great guys, and we like to think they feel the same about us aswell.
At the maker end, our bottom end product it is more about the 2d vector work, but with 3d machining and import capability. (not full 3d as we don’t do undercuts), at the maker plus end its about the bas relief design and higher level machining. At our top end which is really aimed at industry we are aimed at super high quality and production, for example, 95% of the coins in the world our designed with our software, almost every greeting card that has a lump or a bump is designed with our software, most packaging labels, confectionary, and a large number of high quality jewellery. In actual fact its the same software but with different tools and features enabled.
I suppose the simplest way to compare would be to say that our software is designed for the creative over the engineer.
Wonderful I learned something today… BAS relief modeling… thanks! If I understand correctly you guys could do topo maps … as long as there were no cliffs involved
Being a mechanical engineer, that is a bit constraining but there is still a LOT of projects where this style of modeling is appropriate.
I just posted a question on CNC fixturing so I could machine a tenon by flipping the piece over ( the “undercut”). As I understand it , a pure BAS model would not be able to represent the part, but TWO BAS models combined would.
Again thanks for the reply.
Any plan for a macOS or iOS version?
It certainly does mean that, topographs are pretty straight forward for us. Tbh if you think outside of the box, like you say with flipping things over, you can do alot. Year ago when quadcopters were coming in I flip machined some wooden props for a quadcopter on a tiny cnc using a jig, and corbels are pretty common aswell for flip machining, so joints you could easily do flipped. For example the pool table legs below are flip machined with a jig.
Image wise, these sorts of things below from our customers are things that could easily be done on the OneFinity:
Hi Ben, unfortunately not, people are using bootcamp and parrallels successfully, actually our marketing guy uses a mac everyday with the software.
