Letters not being cut to same depth

I am a new Onefinity CNC Woodworker owner. I have been able to learn the basics of the Vectric software and have done an inlay design with lettering. The lettering is the problem. I chose Georgia font which is a nice serifed font. However on the slim portions of certain letters like the U and S, the machine is not going deep enough into the board. In fact some did not even touch the surface of the workpiece. Other parts (the thicker portions of the letter) the depth is good. I am using a narrow angle bit. Need help please.

If the font isnt big enough, the V bit might not be able to carve deep enough into it.
Might need to change bits, or fonts.

You need to make sure your waste board is flat and I also do a “flat” pass on your material. Take a look at “CNC Surfacing” on youtube

Thanks to all who responded. I viewed the video on flatness and suspect that may be part of my problem. I can see how to flatten a workpiece but I don’t know how to set the origin for flattening the entire wasteboard since I cannot put the Probe at a corner: the Home position of the machine is inside the wasteboard. Since I am using the Onefinity roll stand and given Onefinity’s excellent manufacturing tolerances I am going to assume the wasteboard area is nominally flat and I will flatten my workpiece prior to starting any CNC operations.

I’m also wondering the best way to hold down a workpiece to flatten it. Since the whole surface needs to be flattened, clamps would not work. Double sided tape seems to giving to result in true flatness. I’m a newbie.

Double-sided tape, painters tape + crazy glue, or clamps that apply pressure from the side of the workpiece (wedge clamp, cam clamp, or other similar) are all good methods. Here’s a few examples:

Thanks to everyone who responded. I am happy to say that after watching the videos, I flattened my workpiece and the lettering came out perfect.
