I’m curious what you guys have for a moisture meter or what you would recommend.
I’m starting to work more and more with ash and maple, suppliers of 8’ slabs are hard to come by at times and everyone’s version of “dry” is quite different lol.

I have this model, it has served me well, no complaints… Amazon.com: Klein Tools ET140 Pinless Moisture Meter for Non-Destructive Moisture Detection in Drywall, Wood, and Masonry; Detects up to 3/4-Inch Below Surface : Everything Else
I have been looking for one as well, this is priced so low I can;t imagine it would be any good but since you say it works good, I ordered one to check it out.
Thanks, for the info.
Pat
Yes, i was surprised by the price as well, but it’s been consistently showing me different “reasonable” values based on the wood and conditions. I don’t have a way to benchmark, but I can measure wood i’ve been drying for 10 years indoors at 11% and new green wood from Lowes at 30%+ so I tend to believe it.
I just got mine a day or two ago and although I live in a very dry climate (Southern Utah) I am showing 1.3 to 1.7 percent in hardwoods of several different variety, pretty sure the moisture should be at least 6 to 10 percent so the jury is out for me at this time, more testing to come.
It is very easy to use.
Thanks, Pat
