With our Masso solution, vacuum control was definitely more plug-and-play for your situation. You plugged the vac into the port labeled VAC, turned the feature on, and got to work (if your vac wasa within the 10amp limitation). We understand why many customers want that same simplicity with Redline.
That said, it is still possible to add vacuum automation with Redline for roughly $30 USD , 5 minutes, and a few simple wire connections using an external relay:
One of the reasons this was not built into the Gen 2 power box was cost. We worked hard to make the Gen 2 more affordable overall, and removing that built-in switched outlet created meaningful savings. Not every customer used the Masso vacuum port, and it was also limited to 10 amps, which did not work well for many larger dust collectors. It will also let you use a 110 controller with a 220 vac, which the Masso power supply could not do. (also, think of the users in 220v countries who couldn’t use it)
With the Redline setup, customers who want vacuum automation can still add it, while customers who do not need it are not paying extra for a feature they may never use.
An added benefit is that relay-based setups can be more flexible as well, since they can be used for other switched accessories too. It also leaves room for broader options in the future, including potentially higher-voltage solutions if a safe and reliable option becomes available.
