One last thing I wanted to add to this thread, as I’m thinking about credit where it’s due:
I made the doors by following a tutorial / lesson done by Kyle over at LearnYourCNC.com. But, if you’re looking for a more basic shaker style door, without the round overs, they sell a set of CNC plans for that at ToolsToday.com that might be worth taking a look at.
No vacuum holding. I use tabs to hold the doors in place on the profile cut-out. You can include them in your toolpath, the machine will leave small tabs around the perimeter, and you just cut them when it’s done… I use an oscillating tool.
Here’s a link to a previous post where I explain how I use PWNCNC toe clamps to hold the workpiece.
best for hold down is vacuum, i use screws in mdf to hold it down, around doors. i use cnc by drawing 1/8 circles outside of toolpaths. i locate these, put down where it needs to go, and zero usually at 0,0, and zero vbit on top and run vcarve on circles. put screws where it marked mdf. tehn you can tab, as i don’t have any luck with compresison holding mdf. i use tabs and have tried cutting even using onion skin. not much better that way. tabs work well and are easy to clean up
