I think it should work. It’s a good idea to keep multiple 120 VAC sources out of the same enclosure. I would suggest a 24 VAC transformer rather then DC. Relay/contactors often have 24 VAC coils available. If you follow the above lengthy link it shows what I did for my dust collector using 24 VAC control.
