Out of True 1/8" Bit When Tightened

Oh this is easy fix. Happened to me too. The collet is made up of 2 parts similar to a router collet. But you have to snap the bit holder into the nut before you install a bit. The holder pushes into place with a click. Then the bits will run true.

I know this topic is dead and buried but one last thought…

In my lifetime as a machinist, I HAVE seen one instance of a bent carbide endmill. Solid carbide 1/4" endmill…bent! I don’t know if it was bent from use, or if it was made that way. I don’t know how either one is possible. I didn’t believe it untill I saw the guy put it on a granite table and tried to roll it.

it would have to be ground that way, I have seen that before. carbide will break before being bent. they can move around alittle in a collet but they wont bend. I have seen them where the cutting edge was not concentric to the shank. but it is very rare.

I would say if you had a bent bit, it was high speed steel. Carbide breaks
