Prototype Dust Boot Showcase

Sorry for taking so long to get back. I printed the parts using your files as is. they came out good. the only nit that I have is the recesses where the magnets set were not the correct size, and I had to open up the holes with a 1/4" endmill by hand. I pretty much screwed most of the holes up, but I figured I can print another unit. I used superglue to glue in the magnets and it works OK but looks sort of bad when you take it apart.
I tested with a 4" hose and a Jet 1200cfm dust collector. I have video and pics if I can figure out how to attach. In the video you can see the dust brush fluttering from all of the suction. I tested with MDF so I could get plenty of dust flying. The unit worked great. You could not detect any dust on the project unless you wiped a finger on the surface even then you could barely see anything. All that said, this boot works great.
FYI, I have an original 1f with added chains everything cleared just fine.
If I were to suggest anything it would be the following:

  1. one size of magnets
  2. Size holes closer to magnet size to be able to press them in w/o having to fit the magnets to the holes. (could have been my printer making the holes a little off)
  3. Add magnets to the base where it dovetails.
  4. Create a hose mounting bracket to fit original 1F (I had to modify to fit mine works OK just had to drill a hole)

Thanks for the opportunity to try this out.
