Made a rudis sword for a good friend and shipmate’s retirement gift. Used red gum for the blade with purple heart inlay. The inscription on the back is filled with star bond (medium thick). The handle had to be turned on the lathe and cannot remember the type of wood. The guard and “pomel” is walnut.
