Tool database, ATC question?

Pretty familiar with the process now so I thought I might organize a little.

I have a problem in Vectric where if I assign the same number to multiple tools we have a couple problems. First of course I get an error code, and second the gcode does not change bits between cuts. So I went to the ATC profile and put in my 12 most used bits and assigned them all a unique number. Then I went to Vectric and assigned those tools all the corresponding numbers. Then I went to put them in Masso, and guess what? It seems that although I can put them all in there, it doesn’t look that I can assign all of them Slot 5 for a manual change.

Can this be done and I am doing something wrong or am I asking for the impossible? And btw, if you try to load one of those tools, #6 for example, you will get the error message “No slot assigned”.

Is this the EasyATC? If so Is it installed using the RapidChange/Onefinity recomended method or using the native Masso method?

Thanks Don,

I figured it out. I have the easy ATC. As it turns out, the install video did not explain it all. They set up slot 5 as the manual slot. I mistakenly assumed that you could only have 5 slots. Turns out, you can have lots. I set up 15 slots. Assigned each slot to a separate tool number and then in the RapidChangeATC macros I assigned each of those slots manual. I set up the magazine for those tools that are most often used in a single carve senerio. A downcut 1/4”, 1/8”, 1/32 bullnose and a 60 degree V-Bit. That pretty much covers clearing passes, relief carving and v-carve and text.

The rest of my bits are specialty bits or are often used for a single bit carve like flattening. I assigned them each their own number and a corresponding slot in the Masso tool database. When one of those bits are called the spindle goes to the manual tool change position.
