Changing the tool number masso thinks it has (atc)

ok did all the things on The ATC video on installing the Easy ATC video by Mitch. But, my Masso thinks tool 18 is in the spindle when it is actually tool 1. how do i change this?

I don’t have a ATC but without it I would try MDI M6 T1 follow the process but don’t change the tool. Is this possible with ATC?

I think it flipped around “T1M6”. I’d keep my finger on the estop…. as it might try to “unload” T18 somewhere…

You could also consider just manually opening the collet and inserting tool 18, then run a program to switch to tool 1.

I don’t have the rapidchange ATC… not really sure on the logic…

Is this the initial installation? If so have you used a “Sync Pocket #” subroutine to let the Easy ATC know what tool is in the spindle?

it is and i will try that ….a few moments later tried that. Masso still think i have tool 18 in the spindle. In fact i loaded the sync pocket one program and the rewind and start cycle and i all I got was a popup/notice I pressed ok but still it thinks tool #18 is in the spindle.

interesting note, when I looked at the Masso tool library for tool#18 nothing is listed but it has a z offset listed? nothing else

I also unloaded the tool manualy and Masso still thnks itis in there. I restarted and ran the tool changer test and it goes into pocket one comes out and then says the tool to unload is not set to any slot GRRRRRRR

since i have never actually run a program except for the atc instalation why would it think a certain tool is in there?

I have the easy ATC but I use the native Masso implementation of it instead of the recommended RapidChange installation. I do believe however that with the RapidChange implementation, the RapidChange macros, not the Masso controller, handle all the tool changes. I would check the RapidChange WebUI to see if you have it configured as tool 18 in pocket 1.

indeed it did but i was hoping that some here on the forum might know or have run into this problem as well. that is why i come here not just to pose questions but to have the answers seen by the other users. It turns out that the issuse is not with rapidchange but with the masso itself. don from rapidchange straightend this out in two minutes go to setup change the tool setter to manual then go to MDI and type in t1m6 and run then go back to your tool setter and set it back to linear type 2 and bobs your uncle. everything works. very simple fix once you know how. I did not know how and i was hoping someone here did. now all of you do. this should make it easier on the next poor devil.

Glad you got it fixed up. @RapidChangeDon is the best! He knows his ATC inside and out!

That is correct, as Masso and RapidChange don’t really ‘communicate’, which is why Don needed to come up with the subroutine solution to get around that. From what I learned from Don, the tool number Masso shows won’t change until you run a gcode file calling for a Txx M06, after which Masso and RapidChange will be synched and the tool #s should match.
