I don’t have my ATC yet but I’m wondering if anyone knows if you can swap between ATC (Either Linear Type 2 or Rapidchange) and Manual tool changers without having to setup the tool changer again once you switch back?
Masso’s Rapidchange logic does not support manual tool changes. The WebUI version that Onefinity supports allows for manual tool changes. The easiest way is to set 4 tools as the pocket tools (assuming a 4 pocket magazine) and the others you add can be treated as manual tools. I believe Onefinity has users do this for the initial setup where the 5th tool tested is a manual tool change.
Thanks for the quick answer but that’s not quite what I’m asking. What I’d like to know is. Can I revert to a manual tool changer, run a couple of jobs without using either the Rapidchange or Masso logic and then change back to using the ATC with Rapidchange or Masso logic without having to go through a reinstall of the ATC?
Thank you for clarifying - apologies for the misinterpretation.
I run a traditional ATC spindle with Masso Beta firmware, which has issues with manual tool changes ATM. One thing I do, which has become second nature and very fast, is to edit my Gcode to have the manual tool I want match the tool Masso currently shows/believes it has. There are no tool changes or tool offsets required or called.
This would work as a solution to your question as it does not require a change to the Masso ATC logic.
As for RapidChange and the WebUI, I believe it works because of the specific PP which crfeates and calls subroutines that handle the ATCs. In this case perhaps using the regular Masso PP would work, if my aforementioned solution is used.
I am away from my shop this week so can’t give a definitive answer to your specific question.
Ah, I see. Thanks so much!
I’ve been trying to figure out if I was going to install the easyATC when it arrives or sell it and use the proceeds towards a rapidATC 8 slot unit. If I can just switch the post processor and set the masso to manual tool changer when needed, I’ll probably just go ahead and install it then.
