Wireless Joystick and Redline controller

Try plugging the dongle in after the machine boots up.

I’ve tried that many times. I’ve also tried unplugging and plugging back in the dongle and I’ve gone through all of the modes of the controller. Also, when I press the detect button, nothing happens. Should I get some sort of notification after pressing it?

Ensure you are on firmware 1.4.18. IF it still doesn’t function, it’s an older joypad that doesn’t work.

I am on 1.4.18. I am using the EasySMX 9110 instead of the EasySMX 9013 which has been discontinued by the manufacturer. It hooks up fine to my computer, so I’m sure it’s not the controller.

Ah, that’ll be it.
The redline/realtime is only programmed for the one we sell, 9013.

@OnefinityCNC Two questions -

One, is “plugging in the wireless dongle after the HMI boots up” the official Onefinity/Redline solution? My wireless gamepad, that I bought as part of my X50 Woodworker, works as long as the wireless dongle is plugged-in after the HMI boots up.

Two, if I were to buy a new wireless gamepad controller from your website, is it expected to work when the dongle is continuously left in the USB port and does NOT require being plugged-in after the HMI is booted up?

I’m sorry for such pointed questions, but your stance on this issue isn’t really clear to me (and others, I think). I’m also trying to decide if I want to purchase a newer wireless gamepad from you.

The stock of our current gamepads work now. They discontinued this joypad in 2023.

We have a mixed result internally on behavior of the joypad:

  1. some older ones do not work at all (pre redline existence)
  2. newer ones do work, but require one unplug and replug to register (1.4.18 firmware).
  3. new ones work and do not require any unplug/replugs at all.

Well, in that case I guess I’ll just have to use the HMI. I’m all for supporting Onefinity, but the price difference is pretty significant. $20 vs almost $70 by time it gets shipped to me. Thanks for your help though.

A little disappointed Onefinity shipped me the ‘slightly defective’ gamepad if they have ones that fully work with Redline without having to unplug and plug in. (yes it’s pretty minor, but it is highly annoying)

There isn’t a rhymn or reason for why one requires a unplug/replug once or none at all. It’s completely random to the hmi/joypad. Even internally we have some of both.

It’s something that we will keep working on improving over time (as shown as how 1.4.18 dramatically improved the joypad).

Exactly this. If they know the newest models work with Redline, and older models only ‘kinda’ work then they should only be selling the newest ones with the Redline.

We only sell the ‘newer’ stock.

@OnefinityCNC @RTCNC @Redlinecnc I just received my “new” gamepad from you today and tried it out tonight and it’s doing the same thing as the original gamepad that came with my X50 3 years ago. So FYI…the “new ones” are also NOT working as they should. Not going to lie…I’m a little frustrated that I was told the “new” gamepads would work as expected, only to spend $50 and find out that is not the case. And I don’t want a refund…I’m happy to have a backup gamepad. Instead, what I’d like is for OneFinity/Realtime/Redline to own this issue, treat it as a priority, and ultimately resolve it.

It should have worked. (all ours do in house.) We cannot reproduce any of our stock not working.
Email support@onefinitycnc.com if you need furthur assistance.

I’ll email support to at least get it on record, I guess. I’m happy to ship this one back to someone if y’all want to test with it.

I have the wireless joypad that came with my buildbotics. If I try to boot up the Redline HMI with the dongle inserted, the HMI scrolls errors for about 60 seconds before it will try to boot up. If I take out the dongle before boot up, the scrolling goes away. I get a small page of text then go right to the home page. I think Onefinity has to own this and get it fixed. It would be really awesome if Redline supported the speed buttons on the joypad too. I really miss those.

I have an Elite 2 Foreman with Redline controller and thought I could do without joystick control until I got my system up and running and realized the touch-screen on my laptop left a lot to be desired. All I can say is “jerky!” I looked at the price of the OneFinity gamepad with shipping and decided to source a Bluetooth gamepad from AliExp. With shipping… $14.00 for the Gaminja P47. I’ve included a photo. It connected seamlessly to my laptop and worked well but… It seemed that between runs it lost connection. I thought I had to re-boot the system to get it to reconnect. I reached out to support and was told that OneFinity doesn’t support the use of non-supplied by OneFinity gamepads. So.. I did an AI search of the photo of the OneFinity listed on-line, got the make and model, and found one used on eBay for $12 shipped. After all of that… my mistake, the Gameinja joystick just goes into sleep mode after a couple of minutes. One quick press of the center button and it was working perfectly! Wireless via BlueTooth is the way to go IMHO. Works great - No more issues.

Same issue - I have the XBOX Wireless Gaming Controller + USB-C Cable | Carbon Black | Console, PC, & Cloud Devices | Textured Grip | Wireless, Bluetooth, USB-C Connectivity - when I connect it the joystick config page does not detect it nor does it show in the dropdown. However, the logs DO show that it was detected.

It’s only programmed for the joypad we sell.
