I go to the joypad tab on hmi and it says NONE in the selection field.no other devices listed. The DETECT button as far as i can tell is dead. When pressed, no feedback of any kind is given…it just doesn’t do anything.
I’ve tried the inplug - replug method with the dongle multiple times…useless.
Tried rebooting with dongle plugged in first, tried rebooting with dongle plugged in after boot, same result.
Not to be obvious, but is the joypad powered up? Mine has a short sleep setting which means it’s off when I power up the OF. I have to turn it on & then do the dongle in/out to pick it up. But then it works until I shutdown even though the joypad goes to sleep & then reawakens when I do something with it again.
True that. I haven’t checked to see if yesterday’s firmware update does anything. In a lot of ways the BB was more consistent & reliable but I don’t know if that’s because it was more mature before I got the JMan initial release (they had the WW out for awhile before adding the larger JMan) or if I’m pushing the envelope harder since the RL Foreman should be more capable.
I just upgraded my Buildbotics system to the Redline system and as others have reported, the gamepad controller doesn’t work as expected. On my system, I have to let the Redline HMI bootup completely and then insert the gamepad wireless dongle for it to work. It will not work upon bootup by itself (with the dongle inserted before & during bootup). I’m running 1.4.18.
@Redlinecnc I read in the release notes for 1.4.18 that it sounds like this issue has been fixed. At least on my machine and with my wireless gamepad (purchased from Onefinity as part of my original X50 machine purchase), it is not fixed.
Older joypads seem to not work. While the model and look are the exact same as what we are selling today, it seems the joypad manufacturer made some sort of change over the years and the older ones (users who come from bb controllers and convert), their joypads do not work.
My joypad is from my x35 BB controller but it works (of sorts) when my Redline finishes boot up. However, though it will control each axis’ movement the options to lock axis direction and speed of movement will not enable.
At least I have some control and the cost was zero to my new machine.
My joypad was shipped with my Gen 2 Redline and doesn’t work properly. I also have to unplug the dongle and re-insert it to get it to connect, on every boot up,
