65mm Suckit dust boot and makita router adjustment lacking

My Makita router (RT0701C) does not allow me to adjust my Suckit dust boot high enough to use short bits. The dust boot hits the support that holds the router. I’ve tried everything but since I haven’t seen anyone else complain I know there is a simple solution. Any suggestions for this old man?

I haven’t used mine yet but doesn’t it have interchangeable brushes of different lengths or completely removed all together?

It does but to use a surfacing bit as short as that bit needs to be I have to not only the short brush but the clear shoot off. This bit is at length needed for shortest brushes. I’ve got to be missing something simple.
