80 mm spindle adapter axis offset

I’m initially installing a Makita router in my new Journeyman, but expect to upgrade to an 80 mm spindle in the future. So before I permamently mount the machine and spoilboard to my torsion-box base, I’d like to be sure that the mounting locations I select will work for an 80 mm spindle, as well as for the 65 mm Makita.

Can anyone tell me how much the 80 mm spindle mount moves the spindle axis forward (in the Y-axis direction), as compared with the 65 mm mount? I understand that the 80 mm mount moves back edge of the spindle forward, in order to clear the Z-axis stepper motor. Then the 7.5 mm difference in spindle radii will move the spindle axis forward further yet.

Hey Dennis,

see here

Thanks Aiph5u! I spent some time with Google this morning trying to find that info, but came up dry.

As the 1F machines seem to use all metric components, I’m going to assume that the designers also dimensioned everything in metric units, and that the nominal spindle-axis offset of the 80 mm mount is 15.0 mm.
