Would you be willing to share your build progress with the new controller and motors when at that stage? I am slowly finishing my Masso based build, and would really enjoy seeing your work. Had I not decided on the Masso, my other choice would most likely have been the acorn.
Sure thing. I actually searched for the dial speeds online before I realized it was in the manual!
@ConvenientWoodwork Adobe Illustrator, export svg, open the svg in Carbide Create to create the gCode. You guys are way ahead of me on this. Now I have to look up circular interpolation.
@alldaysammyj Hmm, when I initially started these projects I used my normal new file settings for Illustrator, which included 300 ppi raster effects, but when I brought those svgās into Carbide Create the drawings were reduced in actual size. Now, when I set raster effects to 72 ppi the drawings are correct in Carbide Create. Might this have any impact on the resolution of those arcs?
Good to know! I hope to play with aluminum at some point down the road. Thanks @alldaysammyj
@Watkins Iāll say I donāt think so but perhaps it could exacerbate the minimum resolution further. I say this as I work solely in Fusion 360 for now and it doesnāt matter If I program a strategy at .001" or .0001" the result is the same. I havenāt tried programming coarser than that.
@TMToronto I will definitely be updating my findings with the upgraded controls and motors. I was also looking at the Masso so Iāll be interested in your results as well. From what I can tell the Masso and Centroid products are in the same league. I also found some no backlash motor to shaft couplers on Misumi.com for the upgrades. The new 2nm closed loop motors run larger 8mm shafts.
I look forward to your future updates. I upgraded my steppers as well, and bought a set of Oldham zero backlash couplings, since I also had to accommodate larger motor shaft diameters. If using my Woodworker is half the fun it has been learning about and building my controller enclosure, this will be a very satisfying hobby.
@TMToronto Yeah great machine out of the box and Iām pretty stoked too on what these upgrades will yield. Also canāt wait for the Journeyman I ordered . Might be able to start making my own personal 1Fās with the upgraded control hardware too?
Looks awesome! Did you use any lubricant or any type of liquid coolant? If so may I ask what you used, thank you!
Thank you. No lubricant.
Really nice looking work.

@Watkins letās get some drag chain brackets going!
Hah, maybe so, but Iām not actually using a drag chain setup at this point.
