What exactly does it do? Can you share the link.
It’s for holding round parts with a collet. it is bolted to the table. Typically they are for larger parts than an ER 20 would hold, hence the 5C size which would go up to around 1.250.
Tnx, that is what I thought. I have seen them in square or hex blocks for ERxx collets.
Here is one that looked interesting. Not sure about tolerances or how well it is machined… https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008457189748.html?src=google&src=google&albch=shopping&acnt=272-267-0231&isdl=y&slnk=&plac=&mtctp=&albbt=Google_7_shopping&aff_platform=google&aff_short_key=UneMJZVf&gclsrc=aw.ds&albagn=888888&ds_e_adid=&ds_e_matchtype=&ds_e_device=c&ds_e_network=x&ds_e_product_group_id=&ds_e_product_id=en1005008457189748&ds_e_product_merchant_id=773186455&ds_e_product_country=CA&ds_e_product_language=en&ds_e_product_channel=online&ds_e_product_store_id=&ds_url_v=2&albcp=20695954287&albag=&isSmbAutoCall=false&needSmbHouyi=false&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20705699266&gbraid=0AAAAAoukdWP7N__hYpF2eJirVR8Ay_rGf&gclid=CjwKCAjwsrbTBhAvEiwA0Bpp4VQv2FBl8bFqqOkPqwq_bKO3v3HfqitBr3iytr7Bz7lnmtb7ongjQxoCY4EQAvD_BwE
@HardtailSr The 5C collet holder is commonly used for production work in metal. You could set it up on a milling machine and do thins like making nuts, bolts, mill a hex on a rod, etc. I used one similar to do many things on a mill as a machinist in a job shop. Just curious on why you are looking for a tool like this.
@TMToronto The link you had above with the ER collet set up, I think would be the business end of live tooling on a CNC lathe spinning a drill or end mill. Or it cold be used on the spindle of a lathe to spin rod material that is ground to size. It could be used on a 4th axis and/or a 5th axis machine tool.
I guess if you are thinking of ways to make stuff, is always a good thing even if you go down a road and find out it won’t work or does work. I always had the mind set of “You can do anything if you put your mind to it and you are only limited by your imagination.”
Cheers
Joe
thanks, I already use a square block. what interested me was that handle because it looks like it would speed things up a few seconds for what I do. kind of a quick-change thing. I suppose I could just weld a handle on the collet nut. and no it is not for the spindle lol a handle on that collet nut would be a dangerous thing.
