I did a quick search but could not find the information. I believe, from a provided link, the shaft diameter of the steppers is 6.35mm (1/4"). Could someone provide the diameter of the ball screw end that attaches to the motor coupler. Is the coupler a 1/4" X 1/4", or something else like 1/4" X 3/8"? I appreciate the help.
@TMToronto very close! It’s 6.35 to 10mm.
Thank you Bill - I am embarrassed to have missed that in the parts section. Do you think this would work with a 3/8" motor shaft? The 10mm is close to the 3/8" measure of 9.53mm - do you think since this is a clamping style coupler, being 0.47mm oversized would matter? I appreciate your thoughts on this.
No worries, glad I could help! I don’t know about clamping down that far on that split connector. It may tighten down, but possibly at the cost of concentricity. At the very least, I’d try to cut a piece of shim stock to wrap around the motor shaft while installing (even a couple wraps of paper would be better than nothing).
Thank you - it was the concentricity I too was worried about. I have found a few sources that sell the bore combination I would need. For the cost, I think it is worth it to eliminate the possibility of a poor/compromised stepper motor connection.
Yes, definitely worth the investment for ensuring a good attachment.
