Birdhouse in the making

There is still plenty to do but, I’m off to a good start. The painting was a challenge however persistence paid off.

That’s crazy-good! Can you share a bit about your process?

Wow, that is amazing. I love it.

The file is from Woodsmith site. I made some changes that made assembly easier. The key is the paint. I followed his technique but, sealed the wood first. I also picked out a different paint, several really. It took some time to find the right combination.

Thanks Mick. I found the Woodsmith episode, and watched the video. I wasn’t even aware that Woodsmith had CNC content, so I have some more exploring to do. Meanwhile, I’m posting the link below, for anyone else who might be interested.

You really kicked up the aged-brick look a notch from the Woodsmith version. It looks fantastic.

I found it a while back and this birdhouse was on the list of projects. I made changes but, that the beauty of projects like this

I want to see what it looks like when a bird lives in it and sticks its head out.

I experimented with several paint mixtures until I was satisfied. Then, I went to Home Depot and had them scan my paint, so I wouldn’t have to mix it again. My daughter built one, she is a far better painter than me.

These are amazing! The detail is outstanding.
