Boring Hole "Velocity" Vs Feed Command Not Matching

Good morning, Onefinity community! I have the Journeyman X fifty with the original Buildbotics controller.

I have a production shop where I need every ounce of speed I can get. On one part in particular made out of soft HDPE, I need to bore 2 holes .5" deep and 0.55" in diameter. While my “Feed” command shows my higher speed (75 in/min), the “Velocity” or actual bit speed never goes above 35-40 in/min.

Even the acceleration/direction change speed when manually moving the machine seems faster. Does anyone have any insight into this?

Thanks!

Velocity is what it can actually hit vs feed which is what is desired.
Simply, the geometry you’ve put in to bore the hole cannot hit what your target speed is.

Thanks for the quick reply! Was this updated in one of the firmware updates? I recall being able to hit much higher velocities on curves when I first got the machine (unless I’m completely misremembering). So this is a firmware-limited acceleration/jerk, right?
