Comparing a Gen 2 and upgrading controller, motors and QCW HD leg kit

I am looking at the cost of upgrading my Gen 1 Elite Journeyman with the Redline controller, 2nm motors and the QCW leg upgrade kit. If I am doing the math correctly, it would cost roughly $800 more to buy a new Foreman Gen 2 machine than it would cost to upgrade my current machine. Why would the upgrade cost be so close to a new machine cost? I am sure I can sell my Journeyman for more than $800. Looking at the base cost of a gen 1 vs a gen 2 is also rather significant, with the gen 1 kit being substantially more. Am I missing something? I am not trying to be negative, just trying to make a smart decision financially.

What you are not getting, is that Onefinity is offering a” launch price”, as soon as launch day is over the price for the gen 2 will go up significantly and people that missed the launch will have launch regret like you cannot imagine. I know because I missed the last launch, and the price of what I wanted…..well let’s just say I spent a whole lot more for what I wanted than I expected, and I had to wait months longer to get it.

I understand the launch pricing. If you go by the prices with the strike-throughs, it looks like you are saving about $200 from what the normal price will be. I am looking at the cost to upgrade the controller and motors, which is $1850 (launch price) and the leg upgrade which is another $150 (launch price). Factored into that is having to ship the Masso controller back. Additionally, if I wanted to use the IPP program to upgrade to a Foreman, that would be another $1800 plus $450 for a new QCW. That totals $4250 and requires shipping the Y rails back to Onefinity. A brand new Gen 2 with a new QCW is $3947 at the non launch price ($3520 launch price) and you still retain the gen 1 as a complete machine. I just would have thought the upgrade route would be a more economical route, especially considering that is one of the selling points Onefinity uses.
