Creating a CNC sander

I wanted to add a bracket to the front of the spindle mount that will hold my ROS so that I can sand panels that I have flattened. I know there is a way to mount a laser on the front and have MASSO know how to control it. I am thinking I could do the same thing.

I imagine using foam weather striping so that the ROS bracket is not solidly attached to cut down on vibrations to the z axis. The ROS does not need to have any pressure on it to sand.
I am wondering how I can program the MASSO to know that it is running something that the center point is a few inches from the center point of the spindle (like a laser).
Has anyone done something like this before? am I crazy for wanting to do this?
Thanks for taking the time to look at my post, and comments are welcome.

Zero the sander at your xy zero and run the program. Just like you do with a laser.
