what kinds of bits are you folks using to cut packaging foam similar to the foam our beloved machines came packaged in? and what it the real name of this kind of foam?

Downcut foam bits with opposite rotation to what normal CNC would be.
Bit needs to be sharp. So only use on foam
Single flute is good.
You may need to pause the cut if strands of foam wrap around you’re bit and need clearing.

Not sure what you’re looking to use the foam for, but in addition to Kaizen foam and other named stuff, you can use insulation panels from the big box store if you’re okay with pink or blue-green colors for the cheapest per square foot foam. It’s great for tool drawers, custom packing/shipping use, etc.
