AirWeights WCW Vacuum Slats for the QCW

I’ve been out of the game for a couple years. So you just have to have your whole profile already cut to size before using these so as not to cut through the air weights? Or in theory you’d have to attach a spoil piece underneath the main piece right?
Each complete system comes with both spoilboards and fixture plates, 2 approaches that allow for cutting completely through
Will there be a Machinist size offered?
I’m confused by the product listings on the 1F website. The journeyman system ($3,100) is exponentially more than the woodworker ($1,800) but somehow the foreman system ($3,019) is less than the journeyman? Also, what is the difference between these systems and the $1,500 24x48 system also listed on the website?
Hey Borgorl,
there is a 24" × 48" machine? Where?
What is the CFM for the pump used in the Woodworker offering?
And how much will fixture plates cost to replace?
There’s a 24x48" Airweights table (single plenum), non-QCW, that existed before this QCW-specific lineup. I imagine the price jump between Journey and WW sizes is largely due to the different pumps included with each.
Hey all,
ah, you mean this vacuum table. To my knowledge there is no Onefinity CNC machine with 24 x 48" dimensions (except if you make a custom one with parts)
@AirWeights I love the @AirWeights for work holding. I have the 24x48 thinking about purchasing another one to completely cover the 48x48 Foreman. What benefit is there for using T-slots as the table is holding my work piece? What benefit would I get from purchasing a 17cm pump with a complete Foreman slat package vs purchasing two 24x48 systems, with 2 pumps with 18cm for less than the single Foreman kit?
9 CFM for the WW
17 CFM for JM/FM
Fixture Plates for each slat will be ~$25 or less to replace
Hope this helps!
We do have a 16"x16" available, but no slats for that machine size.
The cost is roughly the same between the two options. The T-tracks offer a lot of creative solutions for stops, repeat workholding, combination apporoaches, fences, etc… the downside is that you have gaps in the vacuum table, but that is common even on industrial machines with zones.
Another benefit of these slat systems is that they’re single source. Our 17 CFM pump pulls 10A nominal on 110V, as opposed to ~18A for running two individual 9 CFM pumps. Food for thought!
These new systems also come with a manifold for independent control of each slat, MDF spoilboards, fixture plates, grid gasket, and all other hardware. They’re truly complete!
In AirWeights website, it says that there are only 3 vaccum slats for the woodworker and the rest is mdf. In OneFinity web site, it does not mention this.
Does the OnFinity offer include vaccum slats for every slot?
It is identical to AirWeights site. 3 for woodworker.
Does the mdf slats need to be surfaced to match the vaccum slats?
@AirWeights can answer this best!
Hey @DrSys ! It depends on your application and required tolerances. Highly recommended, but not strictly required if the install is relatively flat to being with. You can probe the surface to check coplanarity and then decide what’s required for your situation. Hope this helps!
@AirWeights I am just curious why not put all vaccum slats for the woodworker? Will there be an option to do this in the future?
