Difference Between Compression Bits

Hi All

I’m just looking to add a 1/4" Compression Bit to my tools and tend to go with Armana. Whilst looking on Amazon I noticed that there’s

A) Amana Tool 46170-K CNC SC Spektra Extreme Tool Life Coated Compression Spiral 1/4 D x 7/8 CH x 1/4 SHK x 2-1/2 Inch Long 2 Flute Router Bit

and

B) Amana Tool 46018-K CNC SC Spektra Extreme Tool Life Coated Mortise Compression Spiral 1/4 D x 1 CH 1/4 SHK 2-1/2 Inch Long 3 Flute Router Bit

Please excuse my ignorance but what’s the difference with the Mortice (B)

Thanks in advance

Dave

The mortising compression bit has a shorter tip length than the other compression bit (7mm for A and 1/8” for B from Amana’s description). It allows for dados and slots in thinner material.

Thanks Mitch, I new someone with experience would help me out.

So my next question is why not just use the shorter tip for everything or does the longer tip have its own advantages
