Elite woodworker vs. Shapeoko 5 pro

Hi guys! I was just about to buy Shapeoko 5 pro, however I found out about Elite woodworker. I don’t have much space in my garage so was going to get 2X2 Shapeoko which would cover 90% of my needs. Woodworker has ability to cut 32x32 inches, however I would have to rebuild some cabinets in my garage. Now, I love controller on Elite series and infinity design looks more robust than Shapeoko, so I think I would be better off with Elite. Going with Onefinity would be more expensive and there is a wait time. They have 15% off at the moment, don’t know for how long…
Can you guys give me some idea off how stronger/better Elite or X-50 in comparison to Shapeoko 5pro.
Thank you for help

The shapeoko 5 pro has a max feed rate of 200ipm. All of our machines max at 400ipm. The elite has closed loop steppers for motion control feedback, shapeoko is open loop. Shapeoko also requires a computer to be connected during the entire carve. All Onefinity machines run without any computer connected.
Elite machines come with Carveco, much more powerful than carbide create.

Thank you! What about stepper motors, are they same power or elite has more powerful ones. I am interested in cutting aluminum, but that would be maybe in the 2% bucket of my needs.

Here is a video of a guy cutting aluminum on Onefinity. I don’t know what size machine he has but I think all sizes will do it. I have cut some aluminum, brass and steel :astonished:
The cutting starts at 19:30

Thank you, for posting. I’ve spend already few hour watching, lol

Today, I’ve organized my garage a little and I came into a conclusion, that I will be able fit Elite woodworker and still park my car. Some cabinets will have to shrink a little or my work bench will be shorter. It will be hard to decide what I value more, storage space or work bench area. Looks like, Shapeoko 5 Pro will be my backup plan.

Take a look at what some others have done with limited space such as suspending the machine from the ceiling, mounting it vertically on the wall or as a fold up . We almost all have space limitations of some kind but you make it work. Myself, I just built a bump out annex into the other ( unheated) portion of my garage as I didn’t even have space for any of these other alternatives.

We also have rolling folding carts and wall mounts :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you for replying. Every day I feel more and more motivated to redo my garage cabinets so, I can squeeze in Elite woodworker :joy:

The Elite’s Masso controller make the machine extremely upgradable. You can do so much with it. Shapeoko seems to be a much more closed system, at least in terms of how they support it.

Thank you Adam. Masso controller is the main reason why I got interested in Onefinity Elite. As a hobbyist, I really don’t need anything bigger or better than Shapeoko 5 Pro, however extra 8 square inches off cutting area are always plus.
