Ferrite cores where to place them

So, tell me where do I put the little devils? On the cord near the outlet, or near the equipment? both ends better? I went on the net to find this answer it says closest to the source of the noise is best. So in the case of power cords, right at the plug, where the power is coming in and in the case of signal wires where the signal is originating from. seem to be the answer

I put one of mine close to the source, i.e. the power cord where it enters my Makita router. I also placed one close to my BB controller on the power cord, and also on the cat-5 data cable. I put a couple of them close to my monitor, on both power and data feeds. I ran my system this way and had no EMI problems. The theory is that cords act as antennas, and you prevent the noise from escaping the source or entering passive devices.

ok this may be overkill but i am doing it anyway. I ordered this from amazon,

and 50 feet of bare copper braided 18-gauge wire. I will run that line on the inside of my 2.5-inch vac hose and then put a small hole on the hose and connect another piece of wire to it and then through the garage wall down low and outside to the grounding spike . that should do the trick for static buildup I would think. I welcome your comments. oh and i am also installing ferrite cores on every thing connected to my CNC machines as well. with this and the new internally grounded HMI i have coming I am hoping to see the end of the EMI and static disruptions I have already experienced and begin using my new gen two machine as it was meant to be used. EVERY day without emi issues. I will let you all know probably next week when everything is installed and working.
