I’m moving into the final calibration phase on my Elite Gen 2 Foreman (Redline HDI / 2.2kW Spindle) and I am wondering if anyone has posted a dedicated maintenance video for the G2E series yet?
Since this series uses the closed-loop motors and the updated Redline hardware, I’d like to get familiar with the specific lubrication points and rail maintenance schedules before I start putting real hours on the machine. If there isn’t a G2E-specific video out yet, are there any “best practices” the community is using for the new linear hardware? The written manual is quite vague.
As far as I have found, there are magnetic shields on the side of the Z-Gantry where it meets the rail, and on the side rails, just under the front home stop guide pieces. No screws, just magnets. 3-in-1 oil, not the oil you may have gotten with the CNC or other accessories, apparently. As far as schedule it’s probably user specific. Maybe you know it when you hear it. Every 2 weeks seems reasonable, more or less frequent depending on usage.
What I would find useful: have the RedLine controller count up the number of minutes/hours of use and at appropriate times pop up an indicator that lubrication should be applied.
(I’d happily write a program to do this if someone gave me info on the API, etc.)
Bump. There are no maintenance instructions I can find beyond a very short blurb in the manual that states the following:
Apply 3 in one oil into the oil ports of the Ball Screws. Jog the machine to it’s X,Y and Z limits while applying oil to the oil ports in a few different locations. Wipe off any excess oil using a lint free cloth. Note: Cover your waste board with cloths or paper towels as the oil may drip. Do not use wd40 or greases. Visit our forum and YouTube channel to view how to clean the
I need more information. What part is considered the oil port on the ball screw? Do I need to lubricate the ball screws? If so, what type of lubricate/grease should I use? What about the guide rails? Greae/oil?
