Oil port location on the Elite Gen 2 machines

I’m a total newbie here and I apologize in advance, but I can’t seem to locate the oil ports on my Journeyman. I’ve tried looking for videos, but they are years old and I believe referring to Gen 1 machines. I only have about 45 minutes of actual carving time on my machine, but I want to follow the maintenance guidelines and would love it if some would be willing to share a photo indicating the oil port locations. Thanks much!

Steve

We will be putting out a maintenance video in the coming weeks that will cover all maintenance questions!

Only thing I’ve seen so far mentioned is in this video at the 3:10 mark.

The linear bearings that guide the machine have magnetic caps that cover the oil ports. It will be obvious at that point where to put the oil. They don’t need to be dripping with oil, just coated. The ball screws and ball nuts don’t take oil they need grease.

There is no grease fitting on the ball nut. When needed a light coating of grease on the ball screw will do.

Many thanks, Dan. I obviously missed watching that video.

We are about a month out, has this video landed yet?

Here you go!

…the video says to use 3 in 1 oil on the ball nuts, but the oil that comes with the machine says NOT for ball nuts. In a recent thread I asked about this and was given a link to grease on McMaster Carr. Can I please get someone please clarify? Thanks.

The oil that comes with the machine is fro the bearings, shown in the video (thta’s the gear oil).

3 in 1 goes in the ball nuts, not the bearings.

Just curious why grease was recommended the first time for the ball screw and nut? Dealers choice or has the recommendation been updated?

Grease is installed from the factory we purchase them from when the ballnut comes preinstalled on a ball screw. For maintance, we have always recommended 3 in 1 oil. These are the same ballscrews/nuts that have been used on the gen 1 machines for the last 3 years.
